Viewing others 'Selfies' may harm your self-esteem !

Today’s age is of Selfies and social media. Almost all the users are today eager to share their selfies across various social sites in order to share with their friends and family. There has been a report that viewing these selfies over the social media sites like Facebook can actually have a very negative impact on the users.

There has been a research conducted which focused on the behaviour of people after viewing their friends selfies. Out of the people on whom the research was conducted, most showed the negative side of their mind when they saw a selfie of their friends and family. Viewing behaviour is also called as ‘lurking’ which is when a person does not like the social content which is being posted by others.

The research was conducted by Wand and Fan Yang, who both are a graduate from Penn State performed a survey for the purpose of collecting data on the effects on psychology by posting and viewing selfies and other group pics. The result was expected like as posting did not have a major effect in the minds of users but viewing did.

The reason behind this was stated that people usually post pics or selfies when they are happy which makes it very easier for other to think that their life may not be as great as that of others. This study has further put a claim into the believe that social media can be very effective to understand the mental condition of any particular person.
