The Central and State governments and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) received notice from the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court. The PIL seeks the prohibition of online gambling in Tamil Nadu. Justices N Kirubakaran and B Pugalendhi division bench observed the recent lost of lives due to the online gambling platforms. A reference to the detailed judgement passed by Justice Pugalendhi, that highlights the issue in July this year was made. Additional Advocate General (AAG) Sricharan Rangarajan submitted that the issue was carefully considered by the State government and requested ten days time to file a response, following which the case was adjourned to November 19.
