Bhuvneshwar: Naveen Patnaik's aide VK Pandian announced on Sunday that he is stepping down from active politics. This announcement follows the recent defeat of Naveen Patnaik's BJD in the Odisha Assembly elections. In a video message, Pandian stated, "I have consciously decided to withdraw myself from active politics. I apologize if I have hurt anyone during this journey. I regret if the campaign narrative against me contributed to BJD's loss." Pandian, a leader of the Biju Janata Dal and Chairman of the 5T initiative, reflected on his background, saying, "I come from a humble family and a small village. My childhood dream was to join the IAS and serve the people, a dream realized through the grace of Lord Jagannath. Because of my family from Kendrapara, I came to Odisha, where I have received immense love and respect. I have strived to work very hard for the people of Odisha." Pandian's decision marks a significant turn in the political landscape of Odisha following the BJD's recent electoral setback.
