Bangalore: Volvo Group has partnered with Amrita University and Thapar Institute to enhance industry-academia connections and prepare students for the automotive engineering sector. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to provide engineering students in mechanical, electrical, electronics, and computer science fields with specialized training that makes them industry-ready. The MoU was signed today with Mr. Kamal Bali, Managing Director of Volvo Group India, and university representatives present at the ceremony. A key part of this partnership is the introduction of a two- to four-semester-long credit program, which will cover industry-specific topics. Volvo Group will contribute by training faculty members, sending industry experts as trainers, and providing real-world projects, guest lectures, and co-teaching opportunities. The collaboration also includes setting up a Tech Demo Centre, joint publications, research initiatives, and further education for Volvo employees. As part of its effort to encourage gender diversity in the automotive field, Volvo Group will offer scholarships to female students in these programs. The initiative will give students valuable hands-on experience with tools and technologies used by Volvo, equipping them to take on real-world projects from the start. It also provides Volvo Group access to top talent through internships and pre-placement offers, reducing the competition during recruitment. This partnership will further Volvo Group's commitment to research and innovation, with employees gaining access to cutting-edge knowledge. The collaboration also supports Volvo employees' higher education, allowing them to enhance their expertise and contribute to academic research.
