To boost tourism in Siliguri, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced a daily 'Jungle Tea Safari' toy train. According to the NFR, the toy train began running on Monday and will travel from Siliguri to Rongtong.. Sanjay Chilwarwar, ADRM, Katihar division, NFR, told the media, "....We're focusing on Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) to boost tourism. Response has been positive," adding that "Complimentary snacks will be served on this train." From the train, travellers may take in the beautiful splendour of the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary and the hills. The toy train arrives at Rongtong station after a three-hour ride and then returns to Siliguri Junction. During the COVID-19 epidemic, the DHR toy train service was shut down for a year.
