Weapons seized during battle with Naxals in Chatra, Jharkhand

Jharkhand: Weapons were recovered in an encounter with Naxals in Jharkhand's Chatra, police said on Monday.  Five Naxals with bounties on their heads were killed in the confrontation.

According to the police, the dead Naxals were identified as SAC members Gautam Paswan and Charlie, as well as Nandu, Amar Ganjhu, and Sanjeev Bhuiyan, sub-zonal leaders who each held a reward of Rs 5 lakh.

The AK-47 and Insas firearms were also found by the police.

The operation is underway. Three naxals were captured earlier on Sunday by a joint police and DRG team in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-stricken Kanker district.

The police identified the detained naxals as Samund (also known as Suman Singh Anchala), Sanjay Kumar Usendi (also known as Parasram Dhangul), and Parasram (55).

The joint team began an operation after receiving a specific tip-off regarding the presence of naxals, and was successful in apprehending three insurgents from the jungle inside the boundaries of Koyelibeda police station, said  Antagarh Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Khoman Sinha.

"the apprehended naxals have been involved in various instances, including torching construction vehicles, setting towers on fire, and beating people by falsely accusing them of being police informers, among other things" ASP Sinha added.
