WhatsApp on Android Crashes, If Users click on this Link

The most widely used messaging programme worldwide is WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta and has more than 2 billion active users.

However, a recent flaw that is causing the programme to crash is affecting WhatsApp users. On Android smartphones, when WhatsApp users visit the "wa.me/settings" link, they are taken to a crash loop. PandyaMayur on Twitter was the first to notice the flaw that is causing WhatsApp on Android to crash, and Brute Bee was the one to explain it.

This issue only seems to affect the Android version of WhatsApp, although it does seem to affect both the consumer and corporate versions of the programme, as per Android Authority. Version 2.23.10.77 of the messaging platform was running on the device that the newspaper tested, but other versions may also be impacted.

The simple link  namely “wa.me/settings" is apparently causing WhatsApp on Android to crash. Otherwise, clicking on “wa.me/settings” would link to WhatsApp’s settings.

How To Prevent This Link From Causing WhatsApp On Android To Crash: Despite the fact that this problem has affected WhatsApp users worldwide, there is a cure, although a short-term one. As per XDA Developers, deleting the chat entirely can aid in eliminating the link's issue. Those who experience the problem can use a browser to access WhatsApp Web, navigate to the problematic chat, and delete the problematic link.

In the meanwhile, iPhone users can utilise a single WhatsApp account across numerous devices because to Meta's ownership of WhatsApp. The same "Companion Mode" function, which enables Android users to link their WhatsApp accounts across numerous devices, is now rolling out to iOS users almost a month after it was first introduced. The official changelog for the most recent WhatsApp for iOS 23.10.76 update, which is currently available on the App Store, states that WhatsApp is finally releasing the ability for everyone to attach an iPhone as a second device. This is according to WhatsApp updates tracker WABetaInfo.

To Increase User Safety, Whatsapp Introduces New "Security Centre."
