New Delhi: The instant messaging service WhatsApp has unveiled a new global 'Security Centre' page that will serve as a one-stop shop for users to get additional information on how to safeguard themselves from spammers and other unwanted contacts.
On Thursday, WhatsApp announced that it has established this page to raise awareness of the many safety precautions and built-in product features that enable users to take charge of their own safety.
The 'Security Centre' would be accessible in English as well as 10 Indian languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Urdu, and Gujarati.
End-to-end encryption is one of the finest lines of defence against scammers and fraudsters, and WhatsApp is constantly developing new and inventive strategies to improve users' safety and privacy, the company stated.
The new tool will educate users on WhatsApp's various levels of privacy and present a list of top tips for giving users more control over their accounts, including two-step verification, avoiding frauds, and spotting fraudulent accounts, among other things.
The integrated safety campaign "Stay Safe with WhatsApp" that WhatsApp launched in India last month highlighted product features that enable users to take charge of their online safety and guarantee a safer messaging experience.
The campaign's main objective was to inform users of WhatsApp's safety features and capabilities, such as two-step Verification, block and report, and privacy controls, which give users the required defences against online fraud, scams, and threats that compromise their accounts.
