USA: The Android version of WhatsApp is currently receiving an update that brings a screen-sharing feature and a new location for tabs in the bottom navigation bar.

Some beta testers are currently receiving the screen-sharing feature. In the upcoming weeks, it will be made available to regular users. The Android 2.23.11.19 update is compatible with WhatsApp beta.

The voice and video calling experience on Android is still being improved by WhatsApp. The Meta-owned messaging platform has begun testing the capability to share the screen during video calls, just like communication apps like Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. With just a click of a button, users will be able to seamlessly share their on-screen content with every person participating in the video call.

Make a WhatsApp video call to see if screen-sharing is available for you. The call control view should display a new screen-sharing icon. You'll be asked to share your screen after you simply tap on it. To begin, select "Start Now." Your entire screen's contents will be recorded and sent to the recipient. To stop sharing, click the "Stop Sharing" button.

The screen-sharing feature can be helpful in a variety of situations, whether you're helping someone or just looking through holiday pictures with a friend. But keep in mind that the content on the screen will be transmitted continuously. Therefore, anything that appears on your screen, including notifications, notes, payment information, and other media, will be visible to snoops on the other side.

According to WABetaInfo, the screen-sharing function has reportedly been made available to some beta users. According to the article, the feature might not work during lengthy group calls or on devices running an earlier version of Android.

Separately, WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will let users give their profiles distinctive usernames, much like Telegram has done for years. You can get to it by going to Settings >Profile >Name and username. People might be able to find and add others using their user IDs if usernames are added.
