Boris went bankrupt and told the court- 'I'm struggling for money...'

Boris Becker, a veteran tennis player of his time and facing trial in London for failing to hand over his assets after being declared bankrupt, has spoken to the court about how he was struggling for money after retiring for "expensive divorces" and other reasons. Baker had said on Monday that his reputation had been affected due to the wrong propaganda that he has failed to earn enough to pay off his debts.

The 54-year-old said his lifestyle was luxurious, including renting a house at Wimbledon, with a monthly rent of £22,000 (about Rs 22 lakh). He has said that after his divorce with his ex-wife Barbara Baker in 2001, he has to pay a hefty sum to raise his two sons. Baker has also said that he had to spend a good amount of money to raise his daughter Anna Ermkova and her mother, including a £2.5 million apartment in London.

Baker, a six-time Grand Slam champion, was declared bankrupt in June 2017 and was charged with 24 charges, including an Olympic gold medal, for failing to hand over his trophies and other awards and concealing property from trustees. He is accused of allegedly hiding $1 million he received from the sale of a Mercedes car dealership he owned in Germany and transferring hundreds of thousands of pounds to other accounts. Baker, however, denied the allegations.
