Chennai: A woman and her one-and-a-half-year-old child were burnt alive by her brother-in-law on Saturday, March 2, near Natham village in Tamil Nadu's Dindigul district. According to a report by news organization DT Next, the victims have been identified as 22-year-old Anjali and her child Malarvizhi. The woman was married to Shivkumar, a daily wage labourer, and they lived together as a joint family. Shivakumar's brother Karuppaiah (30) allegedly used to misbehave with Anjali and also used to torture her. On Saturday, when Anjali had gone to graze the sheep, Karuppaiah followed her and tried to sexually assault her. Shivakumar was at work at that time. When Anjali, who was with her child, shouted for help, Karrupaiah cut them both. After this, Karrupaiah set both of them on fire in the injured condition. On getting information about the incident, the locals thrashed Karuppaiah. After this he was admitted to the government hospital in Dindigul.
