New Delhi: 4 months had passed since the farmers' movement, which began in November last year. On January 26, 2021, farmers took out tractor parades. The violence took place during this time. There was also a lot of fuss at the Red Fort. After this violence, the farmer movement seemed to be weakening. The farmer leader was scheduled to take out a Parliament march on February 1, but the violence also led to the cancellation of the rally. The violence at the Red Fort had put the farmers' movement on the backfoot. Rakesh Tikait was served a notice by Delhi police on January 28. He was sent notices in case of breaking the conditions laid down during the tractor parade and instigating the farmers. After some time Tikait came to the fore and indicated that the agitation would end tonight itself. Tikait's brother Naresh Tikait also announced the end of the protest in Ghazipur in his village. By the evening of the 28th, the UP government ordered all district magistrates to vacate the agitation site. Officials from Noida, Ghaziabad along with security forces reached the Ghazipur border. The tents and other constructions built there began to be removed. Soon Ghazipur was converted into a border cantonment. It was believed that the farmers' movement was almost over. A little later that evening, Rakesh Tikait appeared before the media and cried profusely and said that farmers were being cheated. Tikait declared that 'the farmer of the country will be got shot in the chest, but will not back down.' Tikait threatened, 'If all the three agricultural laws are not withdrawn, they will commit suicide, but will not vacate the movement site.' Tikait's tears shed that day acted as 'Sanjeevani' for the farmers' movement and the movement got back up again.
