Why did the Gandhi family keep calling Sengol, the symbol of independence, as 'Nehru's stick'?

New Delhi: Union Minister Smriti Irani has fiercely attacked the Congress for boycotting the inauguration of the new Parliament House by PM Narendra Modi. Speaking to the press, Irani said on Friday (May 26) that the Gandhi family had kept Sengol in a dark corner of a museum as 'Nehruji's stick'.

According to the report, the Union Minister further said, 'Sengol which is a symbol of our freedom was kept in a dark corner of a museum by the Gandhi family as former PM Jawaharlal Nehru's walking stick. I want to ask every Indian that keeping Sengol like this and calling it just a stick, doesn't it reflect what the Gandhi family thinks about the country's history and democracy.' Irani further said that therefore it does not surprise us that the Gandhi family is instigating like-minded people to not attend the inauguration of the new Parliament building.

While talking to the media, Smriti Irani attacked the Congress by showing an old issue of Time magazine. She said that this is the August 25, 1947 issue of Time magazine. I would like all our friends who are boycotting the inauguration of the new Parliament House to read this article and get some information regarding 'Sengol' and see what happened in 1947. By doing this drama, they are also opposing their own leader Jawaharlal Nehru. Let us tell that PM Narendra Modi will dedicate the new Parliament House to the nation on Sunday (May 28). 'Sengol', the symbol of the transfer of power from the British to India, will be kept in the new Parliament House as a proud heritage of India.
