Cabinet Expansion Karnataka: More Oath-takings begins for 24 legislators

BANGALORE: In a bid to expand the Karnataka cabinet,  Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, inducted 24 legislators who would soon take the oath of office as ministers.

According to sources, Congress leaders HK Patil and Krishna Byregowda were sworn in as ministers as part of the expansion of the Karnataka Cabinet. Eshwar Khandre, working president of the Congress, MLAs H K Patil, Krishna Byregowda, N Cheluvarayaswamy, K Venkatesh, and H C Mahadevappa, as well as former state Congress president Dinesh Gundu Rao, are among those taking the oath.

Meanwhile, Rudrappa Lamani's followers demonstrated in front of the KPCC office, asking that he be appointed to a cabinet position in the state administration. Rudrappa Lamani is the leader of the Karnataka Congress.

Other names on the list include Kyathasandra N Rajanna, Sharanabasappa Darshanapur, Shivanand Patil, Ramappa Balappa Timmapur, S. S. Mallikarjun, Shivaraj Sangappa Tangadagi, Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil, Mankal Vaidya, Laxmi Hebbalkar, Rahim Khan, D. Sudhakar, Santosh Lad, N. S. According to sources in the Congress, Laxmi Hebbalkar, Madhu Bangarappa, D Sudhakar, Cheluvaraya Swami, Mankul Vaidya, and M C Sudhakar are close to Shivakumar.

Six Lingayats and four Vokkaligas are named on the list provided by the Congress. Five MLAs namely Kuruba, Raju, Maratha, Ediga, and Mogaveera, are from Other Backward Communities, while two MLAs com e from Scheduled Tribes and two MLAs come from Scheduled Castes. Brahmins now have a cabinet representative in Dinesh Gundu Rao. Each of the Karnataka areas of Old Mysuru and Kalyana has seven ministers, while Kittur has six and central Karnataka has two.
