New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (November 25) addressed the public by attending an event organized on the 400th birth anniversary of Assam's veer Lachit Borphukan. During this, PM Modi said that the country was not informed about the true history of India, it was hidden. PM Modi said that India's history is about displaying valor, winning, sacrificing, and great tradition against oppressors. It is noteworthy that Lachit Borphukan was the heroic commander of the Ahom Empire of Assam. When the Mughals invaded Assam in 1671 AD, Maharaja Chakradhwaj Singh of the Ahom Empire sent an army led by Lachit Borphukan to fight. Lachit defeated the Mughals badly in the battle of Saraighat. After this, the Mughals never looked back at Assam. Addressing the birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan, PM Modi said, "For centuries, attempts have been made to tell us that we are people who are always looted, beaten, and defeated. The history of India is not just a history of colonialism, but of warriors. India's history is in relation to displaying valor, victory, sacrifice, and great tradition against oppressors.'' PM Modi said, ''Unfortunately, even after independence, we were taught the same history, which was written under a conspiracy during the colonial period. After independence, we needed to change the agenda of the colonialists, but this was not done.'' PM Modi said that in every corner of the country, the heroes of India faced the oppressors and sacrificed their lives. This history was deliberately hidden. PM Modi said, 'Is the bravery of Lachit Borpukhan not important? Is the sacrifice of thousands of people in Assam against the Mughals of no importance?' PM Modi said that whenever any difficult time came in India, any challenge arose, then some personality or the other definitely descended on this earth to face it. He said that India's history is of victory, of bravery, of sacrifice, of great tradition. CBI filed chargesheet against 7 accused in liquor scam Will same-sex marriages be recognized in India?
