Why was journalist Kanika Gehlot angry over calling Devi Kali 'MAA'?

New Delhi: After PM Narendra Modi addressed Goddess Kali as 'Kali Maa' in his address on Sunday (July 10, 2022), Hindustan Times journalist Kanika Gehlot objected to it. Kanika's question is why 'Kali' was called Maa. He has asked if Hindus call Shiva 'Papa'. In her tweet, Kanika Gehlot wrote, "Why did Narendra Modi call the Hindu goddess Kali as Maa Kali? She is a supreme goddess and can be worshipped in various ways. Not everyone has to see her as Maa Kali.''

In another tweet, Kanika attacked Hindus and wrote, "Hindus have an obsession with turning every female into mother or wife.'' It is a very harmful and anti-women thing. Have you ever called Shiva as Papa, why not? After this tweet of Kanika Gehlot, social media users are fiercely criticizing her. Netizens are also laughing at Kanika, who calls herself a journalist because for centuries, Hindus all over the world have been calling her Maa and that was the reason why PM Modi also called her Maa.

People are questioning Kanika that if everyone has the right to worship Goddess 'Kali' in their own way, Modi calls her 'Maa' in his own way, then what is the objection to this? Kanika comes to the real issue while answering these questions why should Modi alone have the right to decide whether Kali is a 'Maa' or not. Why don't Leena and Mahua have the right to see the way they see Kali? It's up to them how they see Kali.
