Children's corona vaccine to be waited for, covaccin yet to be cleared from DCGI

New Delhi: It may take some more time for the Corona vaccine (COVAXIN) manufactured by Bharat Biotech for children to get the green signal from the DCGI. Sources have given information in this regard. Sources say the Covaxin data is being eveluated. In such a case, DCGI may have to wait for the vaccine to be approved.

There are also reports that India biotech Covaxin may be in canada and the US for children between the ages of 2 and 18. For this, Oqgen Inc., an associate of Bharat Biotech, has sought permission from officials of canada and the US authority. If the US and Canada approve it, India will also use biotech covaccine in these two countries. Earlier, the World Health Organization (WHO) Technical Consultants Group had included Covaxin in the Emergency Use List (EUL). WHO accepted the emergency use of covaccine for people over the age of 18.

With the approval of the WHO, people who have now installed the covacin will now be able to travel abroad without any restrictions. So far, 6 vaccines have been flagged off from WHO except covaccin. These include Pfizer/Biotech's Comirnati, Astrazeneca's Covicher, Johnson & Johnson's vaccine, Modern's MRNA-1273, Sinofarm's BBIBP-Korvi and Sinovac's Coronavac.
