Will Shiromani Akali Dal Rejoin NDA? Amit Shah's Statement Revealed

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) stance on alliance-building on Saturday, stating that the party is open to new allies and does not believe in restricting its political partnerships. Shah also mentioned ongoing discussions with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

Emphasizing the BJP's commitment to implementing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) before the Lok Sabha polls, Shah expressed confidence in the party's electoral prospects. He predicted that the BJP would secure 370 seats while the NDA alliance would garner over 400 seats out of 543 in the upcoming elections. Shah made these remarks during a summit.

Addressing questions regarding the inclusion of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), and other regional parties into the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Shah reiterated the party's willingness to expand its alliances. He stressed that while the BJP believes in family planning in general, it remains open to forming new political partnerships.

Regarding the potential re-entry of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) into the NDA, Shah mentioned ongoing discussions but clarified that no final decision had been reached. The SAD had previously exited the NDA in September 2020 over the contentious farm laws.

When asked about the possibility of collaborating with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) or the YSR Congress, both of which had previously severed ties with the NDA, Shah hinted at possibilities for future collaborations without confirming any specific plans.

Expressing confidence in the BJP's electoral strategies, Shah highlighted the government's decisive actions, such as the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, as evidence of widespread support. He echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent statements, projecting a significant victory for the BJP and the NDA alliance in the forthcoming elections.
