Islamabad: Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan has alleged that women activists of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who are in jails, were being raped. Late on Saturday night, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah termed Imran's allegations as baseless. He had termed it a conspiracy by PTI activists. Now cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has responded to Sanaullah's statement. On Sunday (May 28), former PM Imran said that the ministers of the government are trying to hide their black deeds. According to the report, Imran addressed PTI supporters from his residence in Zaman Park. Imran said that after Rana Sanaullah's press conference (Saturday), I have believed my point. He said that the ministers of Pakistan's fascist government are trying to cover-up to hide the black deeds. Imran Khan expressed concern over the women activists of his party imprisoned and demanded the court to take suo motu cognizance. Earlier, Pakistan's Interior Minister Sanaullah accused Imran and his supporters of conspiring to defame the government. He said that intelligence agencies have intercepted a call. In this call, PTI activists are allegedly found talking about plotting encounters and rapes. A few hours later, Imran started making allegations. According to media reports, Rana Sanaullah claimed that in the intercepted call, there was a conspiracy to raid the house of the PTI worker and to open fire. The PTI men were reportedly saying that the deaths in the firing under the pretext of raids could be shown as human rights violations in the world. Similarly, there was a discussion about fake stories of rape of PTI women activists, Rana said. According to Sanaullah, shortly after, Imran Khan accused PTI women activists of rape. It is noteworthy that after the arrest of Imran Khan on 9 May 2023, there was a ruckus all over Pakistan. PTI activists had held protests across the country. PTI activists and Imran supporters had also attacked military installations across the country. A large number of women were also among the protesters. Thousands of protesters were jailed. Hundreds of people, including women, are still in detention. Imran had accused the same women in jail of misbehaving and raping them. Imran had said that women party workers imprisoned in jail were being mistreated. There are also reports of rape.
