World champions PV Sidhu, B. Sai Praneeth and N. Sikki Reddy arrived at Hyderabad Sports Authority of India (SAI) Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy on Friday to practice within tight security protocol after being away from court for 4 months due to coronavirus. After the approval from the Telangana government on August 1, SAI decided to start a national badminton camp for a possible 8 players who could win an Olympic ticket. National head coach Pullela Gopichand said, "I am very happy to see my top players back for practice after this long break. We are fully ready to resume training in a safe environment. The 8 players in the race to qualify for the Olympics include London Olympic bronze medal winner Saina Nehwal, former world number one Kidambi Srikanth, women's doubles player Ashwini Ponnappa and the pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwik Sairaj in men's doubles." Hyderabad-based player Saina did not participate on Friday, while other players who went to their respective homes in March have not returned yet. Sindhu was the first player to start practice on Friday. She practised under the supervision of Coach Gopichand and foreign coach Park Tae-sang.
