World Wildlife Day 2021: Know History, significance and theme of the year

World Wildlife Day is observed every year on March 3 to celebrate and raise awareness of the world's flora and fauna. World Wildlife Day is celebrated in 2021 under the theme "Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet".

The day is also about raising awareness about wildlife and educating yourself and others about the diversity and importance of flora and fauna across the world. In other words, it's the celebration of the beautiful biodiversity that exists on our planet.

World Wildlife Day 2021 theme is "Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet.” The theme is described as a way to highlight the central role of forests, forest species and ecosystem services in sustaining the livelihoods of hundreds of millions of people globally, and particularly of Indigenous and local communities with historic ties to forested and forest-adjacent areas.

World Wildlife Day is an opportunity to celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of fauna and flora and to raise awareness of the various challenges faced by these species. The day also reminds us of the urgent need to step up the fight against wildlife crime, which has wide-ranging economic, environmental, and social impacts.
