World's Teachers' Day: The Transformation of Education Begins with Teachers

Since a great teacher can change lives with the appropriate amount of chalk and challenges, they are better than a thousand years of rigorous study, therefore what better day to commemorate teaching as the greatest act of optimism than World Teachers' Day or International Teachers' Day? The day, which has been observed since 1994, honors teachers for their contributions to pupils, takes into account issues regarding teachers and teaching and concentrates on appreciation, assessment, and adjustments that need to be made for teachers.

Every year on October 5, people celebrate World Teachers' Day or International Teachers' Day.

History:

The day commemorates the marking of "teaching in freedom" in 1996 and was established in 1994 in response to the UNESCO recommendation about teachers. This day was established with the goals of encouraging support for teachers and raising awareness of how crucial teachers are to meeting the requirements of coming generations.

The International Labor Organization (ILO) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recommendation about the status of teachers was adopted on this day in 1966, marking the anniversary of World Teachers' Day. The 1997 proposal was added to the 1966 recommendation to address the situation of teaching staff in higher education.

Meaning and festivities:

On World Teachers' Day, teachers are recognized for their work and contributions to education. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the difficulties faced by teachers. This day provides an opportunity to address concerns relating to the teaching profession and to acknowledge the rights and obligations of teachers.

A joint statement from Unesco, ILO, Unicef, and Education International said, "On World Teachers’ Day, we are not only celebrating every teacher. We are calling on countries to invest in them and prioritize them in global education recovery efforts so that every learner has access to a qualified and supported teacher. Let’s stand with our teachers!"

This day was established with the goals of encouraging support for teachers and raising awareness of how crucial teachers are to meeting the requirements of coming generations. Today, the day is observed in around 100 different countries worldwide. In honor of their professors, events are planned in schools and colleges on this day.
