Yamuna flowing above warned level, flood crisis looming over Delhi

New Delhi: The River Yamuna in Delhi is once again heading towards the danger mark after the continuous release of water from the Hathni Kund barrage in Haryana. The water level of Yamuna is continuously rising. Though the River Yamuna is still below its danger mark, it is flowing above the warning level. With the rise in water level in river Yamuna, the threat of floods is looming large in low-lying areas. Delhi is cloudy and the MET department has issued an orange alert for areas adjoining the Yamuna.

Water has been released from the Hathnikund barrage in Yamunanagar for two days. Millions of cusecs of water are coming towards Delhi. The iron bridge has been closed in view of the rising water level of Yamuna. The water level of Yamuna in Delhi is currently at 205.17 meters. Which has crossed the warning level (204.50 meters). If the situation becomes serious, some more areas along the Yamuna can be evacuated. That's where the administration can handle relief and rescue operations.
