Jhansi: The culture of renaming in Uttar Pradesh has been going on for quite some time now. Many cities and places have also been renamed during the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. Now, this link may include another name. In fact, the Yogi government in UP has sent a proposal to rename Jhansi railway station as "Veerangana Laxmibai Railway Station". The proposal has been sent to the Union Home Ministry. In this regard, the Ministry of Home Affairs has informed that as per the procedure laid down on the proposal, comments have been sought from the concerned agencies. It is only after the comments and opinions of the agencies that the Home Ministry will take steps on this. It may be recalled that the Mughal Sarai railway station in UP was earlier renamed as Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Station. Meanwhile, Allahabad city has been renamed prayagraj. While Faizabad has been renamed as Ayodhya after its old name. Jhansi railway station is now being considered to be named after Rani Lakshmibai, the main face of the 1857 revolution. Rani Lakshmibai is also known as the Queen of Jhansi, in which case the name of the railway station in her name can be seen as a big symbol.
