Zelensky urges quick approval of next package of EU sanctions against Russia

KIEV:  Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday said that the seventh package of European Union sanctions against Russia must be cleared as soon as possible.

"I constantly stress the urgency of the seventh package of European Union measures in all discussions with foreign partners. The mounting pressure for war and its strong anti-European strategy must be felt by Russia" The Ukrinform news agency cited Zelensky as saying.

The seventh package of sanctions must be approved, according to the president of Ukraine, because of new Russian threats against Lithuania, the upcoming energy crisis, and additional Russian official lies.

As part of its upcoming package of punitive actions against Moscow for its aggression against Ukraine, the European Union is considering slapping restrictions on Russian gold.
