In the aftermath of their victories in the state elections across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, ten out of the twelve Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Members of Parliament (MPs) have stepped down from their Lok Sabha positions.

Led by BJP chief JP Nadda, the group of MPs met with the Speaker to formally tender their resignations.

The delegation presenting their resignations included notable figures such as Narendra Tomar, Prahlad Patel, Riti Pathak, Rakesh Singh, and Uday Pratap Singh from Madhya Pradesh. Representing Rajasthan were MPs Rajyavardhan Rathore, Kirodi Lal Meena, and Diya Kumari, while Arun Sao and Gomti Sai were the Chhattisgarh MPs who submitted their resignations.

Prahlad Patel, a BJP leader who won the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections from the Narsingpur constituency, confirmed his resignation from the Lok Sabha and hinted at an imminent resignation from the Cabinet after meeting with JP Nadda. However, Baba Balaknath and Renuka Singh are yet to formally submit their resignations.

Following the BJP's significant victories that secured them the majority in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, the Congress faced a decisive defeat in these states.

In a contrasting outcome, the Congress emerged victorious in Telangana, dealing a significant blow to K Chandrashekar Rao's Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

The chief ministers of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana have already tendered their resignation letters to their respective governors.

The recently concluded state elections were viewed as a crucial prelude to next year's Lok Sabha polls, often dubbed the semi-final round in Indian politics.
