Maharashtra CM Decision Expected by Tuesday Night or Wednesday Morning, says Shiv Sena Leader.
The question of who will be the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra remains unresolved, but Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat has assured that clarity will emerge by Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Shirsat mentioned that the final decision regarding the Chief Minister position will be made after discussions among key leaders, including Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar, who will consult with top BJP leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
"The three leaders namely Shinde, Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar, will meet later today and make the decision. They will inform the media about it either tonight or by Wednesday morning," Shirsat said to reporters.
Earlier, Shirsat highlighted that since the assembly elections were fought under Eknath Shinde's leadership, many people believe he should remain as Chief Minister. However, he also mentioned that he was unaware of the BJP's position on the matter.
Despite the overwhelming victory of the Mahayuti alliance, which secured 132 seats in the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly, there is still uncertainty over whether Shinde will continue as Chief Minister or if Devendra Fadnavis, who led the BJP to a significant win, will take over the role. Shiv Sena and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP won 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
As the outgoing Maharashtra Assembly's term ended on November 26, Shinde met Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan and submitted his resignation. The Governor has requested Shinde to continue as the caretaker Chief Minister until the new leader is sworn in.
