KARNATAKA - BANGALORE: In a significant move ahead of the Delhi elections, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar launched the 'Pyari Didi' scheme, designed to offer financial assistance to women. If Congress comes to power in Delhi, eligible women will receive Rs 2,500 per month under this initiative.

Shivakumar assured the public that, similar to successful schemes in Karnataka, the 'Pyari Didi' scheme would be implemented immediately after the formation of the government. He emphasized that the welfare of women was a top priority for the Congress party.

At the scheme's launch event, Shivakumar expressed confidence in Congress securing victory in Delhi. He said, 'I am honored to be here today to launch the innovative "Pyari Didi" scheme, a major initiative aimed at empowering and supporting. Once Congress forms the government, we will provide Rs 2,500 to women. This will be one of the first decisions taken in our cabinet meeting, based on the model we successfully implemented in Karnataka."

The 'Pyari Didi' scheme is an integral part of Congress's election manifesto, aiming to strengthen its appeal among women voters. By addressing the financial struggles many households face, the scheme seeks to provide vital support to women across Delhi.

This announcement follows closely on the heels of a similar pledge made by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who leads the AAP government. Kejriwal had earlier unveiled plans for the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojna, a welfare initiative aimed at providing financial support to women. Under this scheme, the monthly assistance to eligible women is set to rise from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,100 once the elections conclude. However, the AAP leader made it clear that these funds would be credited only after the elections, ensuring that the financial aid is rolled out following the electoral process. The two parties now find themselves in a race to attract women voters with similar financial assistance promises, making it a key issue in the upcoming Delhi elections.
