10 players from three teams infected with Corona in Hero I League

The upcoming round of the I League, one of the country's top football leagues, has been postponed due to the increasing cases of Covid. Covid exploded over the tournament on Wednesday and many players from different teams have been found infected despite living and playing in a bio bubble (biologically safe environment). Following which the All India Football Federation (AIFF) called an emergency meeting to postpone the next round of I-League matches on Wednesday and Thursday and Friday with immediate effect.

The official statement issued by the AIFF also said, 'The committee is discussing in detail the current situation, including the transition between the teams participating in the ongoing Hero I league 2021-22. Cases have been detected. After which it has been unanimously decided to postpone the matches of the next round of Hero I-League 2021-22 (December 30-31, 2021), following the medical standards and after suggestions from the health authorities.

The statement further read, "All players, staff and referees have been examined today and are scheduled to be retested on January 1 and January 3, 2022, respectively." The league will review the situation after all the investigation reports are out on January 4, 2022, and is scheduled to take a final call on the next round of matches on January 4-5, 2022.
