Srinagar: Good news has come from south Kashmir in terms of corona virus vaccination. In South Kashmir's Shopian district, 100 per cent of people over the age of 45 have been vaccinated. The bulletin issued by the Jammu and Kashmir administration provides information in this regard. Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir became the first district to meet the target.

According to statistics, as of Monday, 68,953 people over the age of 45 in Shopian district have received the first dose of the vaccine, which is 100 percent of the district's population. While a total of 78883 vaccine supplements have been administered in the district, including 2334 healthy workers and 7546 front line workers. The vaccination work in the district was first completed in Hirpora village, ten kilometres from shopian district headquarters. The village of Hirpora was badly affected in the first wave last year and a population of 450 people in the village was found to be corona positive.

According to Dr. Mohammad Yusuf, block medical officer of Hirpora, 98% of people in his area have been vaccinated and 18-44 years of age are being vaccinated after covaxin. But for this she is giving credit to people in the locality who have high awareness of both the epidemic and the vaccine.
