Cairo: Bayt Al-Arab (House of the Arabs), the first Arab exhibition for prosperous families, debuted in Cairo in the presence of Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the secretary-general of the Arab League, as well as a number of Egyptian and Arab officials, including a senior Saudi delegation.

The goods on display at the exhibition are representative of the 12 participating Arab nations.

It provides a significant chance to discover the depth of these cultures' craft and handicraft traditions in order to save these sectors from extinction.

The exhibition, which runs through January 11, creates platforms for the knowledge exchange between artisans, producers, and exhibitors.

The head of the Saudi delegation, Saeed Al-Zahrani, shared several success stories with the audience during the opening ceremony and stated that the Social Development Bank's participation aimed to support and empower micro-enterprises for family businesses, which are regarded as a key tenet of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

Visitors to the Saudi pavilion were drawn to the heritage goods from various parts of the Kingdom, including the weaving from Al-Sadu, the production of Al-Masleh, and the production of Al-Qat Al-Asiri. There were also goods from numerous Saudi family businesses on display as part of the Tagseed (incarnation) initiative, which is promoted for use in home projects at all national and international exhibitions.

The involvement of numerous families from Egypt and the Arab world, according to Egypt's minister of culture Nevin Al-Kilani, is "the best evidence of Egypt's keenness to support heritage both locally and regionally."

"The Arab House exhibition in the Dome Palace is a wonderful opportunity to visit because there are many handicrafts from all Arab countries, which are sold at very reasonable prices, because all who are present are the owners of the profession or craft, and are not merchants," Raef Al-Khouli, a representative involved in the exhibition's organisation, told Arab News.

Visitors can register their names and phone numbers at the entrance for free entry and use of a special bus to the exhibition venue, according to Al-Khouli.

Al-Khouli continued, "A wonderful medal is available for purchase at the Saudi pavilion. It serves as a memorial medal for the Prophet's Mosque's and the Kaaba's doors.

Al-Khouli stated that there is a large theatre nearby that hosts artistic performances throughout the day and that travelling families are welcome to bring children because there is a play area and a variety of drawing and colouring activities.
