Hyderabad: After Karnataka, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday (April 23) promised in Telangana that the 'Muslim quota' would be scrapped if the BJP came to power in the state. He has termed as 'unconstitutional' such reservations implemented by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government in the state. Amit Shah said that if the BJP government is formed then Independence Day will be celebrated at Idgah.
Addressing a rally in Chevella, the Home Minister said, “We will end Muslim reservation in educational institutions. This reservation is for Dalit, tribal and backward classes. We will ensure that only they get the benefit of this. Let us tell you that the Home Minister has made this announcement at a time when the KCR government of Telangana has increased the Muslim quota from 4 percent to 12 percent.
According to media reports, during this, Amit Shah warned Telangana CM KCR that BJP will not stop till it ousts BRS from power. Amit Shah said that TRS changing its name to BRS was also an attempt to divert attention from deep-rooted corruption.
