Visakhapatnam: About 132 trucks and JCB have been trapped in water due to flash floods in the river in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. Somehow all the workers, drivers, and cleaners of the truck and JCB have been safely evacuated. About 75,000 cusecs of water were released to the lower reaches by the authorities after 4 gates of the dam were uplifted due to overflowing water in the Pulichintala dam on the Krishna river.

When the dam released water, the Krishna river flowing from the Chevitikallu area under the Kanchicharla division was suddenly flooded. Before the floods, the trucks were being filled with river sand with the help of JCB. About 150 vehicles including JCB and truck were present there. The Krishna river had ramps for trucks to and from, which suddenly sank due to heavy water-logging in the river. Only a few trucks were able to get out and about 132 trucks and JCB got stuck in the water. Police, fire department officials, and revenue officials rushed to the spot and somehow evacuated truck drivers, JCB drivers, and workers in boats.

Meanwhile, efforts are now being made to pull out the trucks. Police say trucks can be pulled out only after the water is receding. Right there, the truck owners are performing. They say why the authorities did not tell them how the water was released into the river without informing them. This seems to be a case of negligence on the part of the authorities. On the other hand, many people could have drowned if the flow of water was faster.
