New Delhi: Last year, due to deaths and diseases caused by air pollution, Delhi suffered the most economic loss per person. According to a study by The Lancet, due to air pollution in the year 2019, Delhi has lost the US $ 62 per person i.e. about 4550 rupees.

According to The Lancet study, in the year 2019, due to untimely deaths and air pollution, economic loss of GDP was 1.36 per cent. At the same time, due to premature deaths and air pollution in Delhi, there was an economic loss of 1.06 per cent of the state's GDP. At the same time, there was 1.34 per cent economic loss of state GDP in Uttar Pradesh, which is the highest in the country.

Delhi continues to be one of the most polluted cities in the world. There are many reasons for this, such as emissions from automobiles and power plants, indoor pollution and burning of stubble by farmers of Haryana and Punjab in winter. According to The Lancet study, in the year 2019, about 16.7 lakh people died due to air pollution in India, which is 17.8 per cent of the total deaths in the country.
