New Delhi: A case of rape of a minor differently-abled girl has come to light in the national capital's Mahendra Park. On Friday night, the minor was sleeping outside the slum. In the meantime, a young man living in the neighbourhood assaulted her and fled from the spot.  

On the complaint of the victim's family members, police have registered a case of rape under the POCSO Act and the accused has been taken into custody. The 16-year-old girl lives with her family members in the Sarai Pipal Thala area. There are reports that the teenager is unable to walk and speak. On Friday night, she was sleeping on a cot outside the slum. Late at night, the neighbouring youth came to her and raped her. The accused fled after committing the incident.

On Saturday morning, seeing the condition of the teenager, her family members informed the police about the incident. The police got the teenager medically examined. In which the rape of her was confirmed. Police have started investigating the case. The teenager pointed to the police about the accused. After the incident, the accused fled from their house. Police searched for the accused and within a few hours arrested the culprit from the area. There has been tension in the area since the incident as the accused belongs to another community. Police have deployed a police force in the area as a precautionary measure and are taking action in the matter.
