Aligarh: The death toll due to consumption of poisonous liquor in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh has officially risen to 25 last Sunday. On the other hand, it is claimed that 51 people have lost their lives so far due to poisonous liquor. Police have arrested 11 out of 12 persons in the case. Six involved in illegal liquor trade have also been arrested.

Police also arrested one of the main accused Vipin Yadav in the entire case. A reward of 50,000 rupees was announced on him. Anil Chaudhary, his close associates Vipin Yadav, Narendra, Ajay Singh, Ganga Sahai, Kapil Sharma, his wife Renu Sharma, Vivek Kumar, Sonu Sharma, Neeraj Sharma and Ajay Chaudhary are arrested so far in the case. A magisterial inquiry into the entire incident is underway and five excise personnel have been suspended.

At the same time, Lodha Saheb Abhay Kumar Sharma has also been suspended for dereliction of duty. The matter will now be investigated by an Additional District Collector level officer. DM Chandra Bhushan Singh has said that the administration can impose a National Security Act against the culprits. The DM has also announced an ex-gratia of 5 lakh rupees each to the families of those who died in the incident.
