A record 18500 people have registered for the fifth edition of the New Delhi Marathon. Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary cricketer and brand ambassador of IDBI Federal Life Insurance is scheduled to flag off on February 23. The marathon being organized by NEB Sports is to begin from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. This marathon has the status of the National Marathon Championship from AFI (Athletics Federation of India). In this marathon, 4 different categories full marathon (42.2 km), half marathon (21.1 km), 10000 meters and 5000 meters clean India run races will be organized. The full marathon will start at 4 am. After this, Half Marathon will start at 6.15 pm, 10000 Metres at 7.30 pm and 5000 Meter Race will start at 8.30 pm.

The fifth edition of the New Delhi Marathon has 2500 runners in the Full Marathon and 6000 runners in the Half Marathon. Around 5500 runners are expected to participate in the 10000-meter race and 5500 in the 5000-meter race. There are 820 runners in this race who have participated in all the 5 previous editions. 86-year-old Janardhan BR will be the oldest runner in the full marathon while 72-year-old Daljit Mirchandani will be the oldest runner in the half marathon. Organizers say that their purpose is not just to have a race. Through this, they connect not only the runners but also other sections of society. Military forces, construction sector people and NGOs have been added to it. About 1000 runners from military forces and about 250 runners from police will participate in this marathon this time. 14 corporate sectors have ensured participation in it.

Para athletes, sighted runners, as well as guide athletes and runners of various NGOs participating in different categories, will also represent themselves. The Challenging One, an NGO of Indian Army veteran and Blade Runner Runner Major DP Singh, will also field its runners.
