Amritsar: Sukhbir Singh Badal has put the Congress government in the dock blaming it for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Sukhbir Singh Badal wrote in a tweet that 'On the morning of June 4, 1984, devotees heard machine guns and bombs instead of Gurbani. The Congress, under the influence of the rule, slaughtered the dignity and hospitality of this holy place in the holy place where the message of peace and brotherhood is conveyed to the whole world every day.'

On June 4, 1984, during Operation Blue Star, the Army launched an operation to end the fortification of Shabeg Singh, Bhindrawale's military adviser. Ramgarhia Banga was bombed.
