NEW DELHI: The maiden meeting ‘two-plus-two dialogue' between India and US will be conducted in Delhi on September 6, the US State Department on Friday confirmed the same.

The United States is happy to announce that the first ever US-India '2+2 dialogue' will be held in New Delhi, India, on September 6 as the State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert released a statement.

Worth mention here Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had stated at a press meet the inaugural talks between the two nations will be held in September.

The structured meeting will focus at developing and strengthening strategic defense cooperation between the two nations.

"The 2+2 dialogue with the US is to happen in the first week of September. The agenda will be to develop and strengthen strategic defence cooperation and to follow-on with what had transpired during the meeting with US Defence Secretary Jim Matti", Defence minister Sitharaman told reporters.

The Talks was at the start supposed to hold this month but was later postponed by the US because of necessary causes.

Sitharaman stated that the dialogue were deferred since US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had to be in North Korea in the first week of July for impulsive talks with officials of that nation.
