SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have busted a terror associate module by arresting two people in north Kashmir's Sopore town. A police spokesperson has informed that on September 9 at around 4:20 pm, a joint naka was set up by PC Sopore with 22 RR and 179 CRPF at Gausiyaabad Chowk Chinkipora under the jurisdiction of Sopore Police Station.

The spokesman said that during the search, suspicious movement of two persons coming from Dangarpora towards Chinkipora was detected and later they were asked to stop but they tried to escape from the spot, however at around 4:50 pm, the security forces were alerted. He said that on his personal search, two grenades were seized from their possession. According to a police spokesperson, they have been identified as Shakir Akbar Gojri of Kulusa Bandipora and Mohsin Wani, a resident of Chinad Baramulla. A police spokesperson said in a statement, "Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested persons are Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of banned outfit Lashkar and were planning to attack security forces and civilians."

The spokesperson further said that 'A case has been registered at Police Station Sopore under relevant sections of the law'. They stated that the OGW apprehended during the investigation disclosed the names of other OGW associates, which led to further arrests and seizures of arms and ammunition which included a Chinese pistol, a pistol magazine, 7 live pistol rounds, and 25 AK 47 rounds.
