7 men drowned in floodwater, including Grandson of village Headman

Chapra: Manish Rai, the 20-year-old grandson of Ranglal Rai, head of Aguthar Sundar Panchayat of Isuapur block of Chhapra district of Bihar, and Brijesh Rai, the 22-year-old son of Prabhunath Rai of the same village drowned in the floodwaters. However, the other five men accompanying them on the boat have been safely evacuated.

All these seven young men boarded the boat on Thursday to take stock of the floodwaters where the boat sank in deep water. However, two young men Chandan Rai and Ranjit Rai swam out of the water and came out. The villagers took out the other three submerged men Bittu Rai, Pintu Rai and Neeraj Rai. Their treatment is going on in CHC Isuapur.

Two young men including the grandson of the chief are still reported missing. On getting the information of the incident, the police station chief Ashok Kumar Das and JDU state secretary Shailendra Pratap Singh have reached the spot and are searching for the submerged young man. The JDU leader has spoken to the Collector and demanded that the NDRF team will be sent soon. People of village mourned this incident.
