Bengaluru: BJP's Bengaluru South District president NR Ramesh has filed a complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Karnataka Lokayukta against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's son-in-law Radhakrishna Doddamani and five others on Monday regarding an alleged ₹800 crore scam. The complaint specifically names Radhakrishna Doddamani, the Management Committee Chief in the Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College and Dr BR Ambedkar Dental College, as the primary accused. Allegations against him include corruption, cheating, creation of fake documents, forgery, and abuse of power.
Also implicated in the complaint are HS Mahadeva Prasad, Dr NT Murali Mohan, and VS Kuber, along with Public Relations Officer Amanulla Khan. According to NR Ramesh, the accused are accused of soliciting hundreds of crores from ineligible students from affluent families for MBBS and BDS courses through fraudulent means. The alleged scam is said to involve over ₹800 crores related to admissions at Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College and Dr BR Ambedkar Dental Colleges. Despite complaints from college staff, activists, and certain members of the administrative committee to the Governor's office and the Chief Secretary of Karnataka government, no action has been taken, claims NR Ramesh.
Ramesh alleges that since 2008-09, numerous irregularities have surfaced regarding admissions under the management quota. He further accuses Amanulla Khan, a fourth-grade officer appointed as the PRO, of admitting students who had failed their exams, in violation of regulations. The complaint also alleges that fake academic certificates were procured from colleges in Jharkhand and other states for students who failed Class 12, enabling their admission to MBBS and BDS courses in Karnataka. Ramesh alleges that each student paid between ₹1 crore to ₹2 crore, with additional payments for falsified marks in internal assessments.
One example cited in the complaint involves an ineligible student from Bengaluru whose marksheets were allegedly obtained from a college in Jharkhand to secure admission to a medical seat in Karnataka. According to Ramesh, similar scams have been ongoing for 15 years. He further claims that Amanulla Khan is currently constructing a medical college in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district for ₹500 crore. Regarding Radhakrishna Doddamani, Ramesh alleges that despite taking nine years to complete his MBBS course in 18 attempts, he was appointed as a professor under Mallikarjun Kharge. Doddamani is contesting as the Congress candidate from Kalaburagi, which is voting today.
