Shimla: Preparations for the upcoming by-elections in three assembly constituencies of Himachal Pradesh are in full swing, with 217 polling parties dispatched to their respective polling stations. The by-elections for the Hamirpur, Nalagarh, and Dehra constituencies are scheduled to take place on July 10.

According to a press release from the Election Department, a total of 315 polling stations have been set up for the by-elections. As of Monday, 217 polling parties have already been sent to their assigned locations. Specifically, 98 polling parties have been dispatched to 100 polling stations in Dehra Assembly Constituency, while 119 out of 121 polling parties have been sent to Nalagarh Assembly Constituency. The remaining two polling parties from Dehra and Nalagarh, along with all 94 polling parties for Hamirpur Assembly Constituency, are scheduled to be deployed on July 9.

In the run-up to the by-elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Hoshiyar Singh for the Dehra seat, Ashish Sharma for Hamirpur, and KL Thakur for Nalagarh. The Congress party has fielded Pushpendra Verma and Hardeep Singh Bawa as candidates for the Hamirpur and Nalagarh constituencies, respectively.

Jairam Thakur, the leader of the opposition and former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, criticized the current state government, alleging a rapid loss of public support. Thakur claimed that the government has failed in multiple areas, including farmer welfare, youth employment, and public services. He accused the administration of acting with "dictatorship and vengeance," stalling the state's development, and closing existing institutions instead of establishing new ones.
