23% polling till 11 pm in UP, Munawwar Rana's name not included in voter list

Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, 59 assembly seats spread over nine districts are going to polls in the fourth phase of assembly elections today. Among the districts where votes are being delivered today is the capital Lucknow. A total of 624 candidates are in the fray from 59 seats. Elaborate security arrangements have also been made at the polling booths. Till 11 pm, 23 per cent polling has been recorded across UP.

Meanwhile, poet Munawwar Rana has expressed his displeasure over his name not being on the voter list. He said that when the government is not giving itself a chance to vote, what is the sorrow of it? Rana alleged that the elections are not being held on issues, the country's largest party is conducting elections in the name of religion and theology. At the same time, BJP MLA and candidate from Noida Pankaj Singh cast his vote in Lucknow. He said, "We are going to get around 350 seats. The work we have done for development and the work that we have done to save and enhance our identity, culture and tradition have been accepted by the people." 

On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has complained of EVM malfunctioning in Banda. In its complaint, the SP has said that the EVM at booth number 191, 189, 141, 261, 263, 242, 322, 171, 174 of Naraini Assembly-234 of Banda district is inadequate, due to which the polling work is hampered.
