According to Pak government data, 2,439 women were raped, 9,529 were kidnapped, and 90 were slain in Pakistan's Punjab region in the previous six months in the name of "honour."

According to the media reports, the data, which was given by the Punjab Information Commission on behalf of the provincial police, reveals a gloomy picture of violence against women and children in Punjab. Nearly 900 minors were sexually molested between July and December 2021, with 204 cases of child labour and 12 cases of under-age marriage reported.

During the six-month period, 2,330 women were abducted in the province capital of Lahore, with roughly 400 rape cases reported.  There were 78 rape cases and 990 reports of torture in Sheikhupura, with 423 women reported as kidnapped. According to the study, over 400 women were tortured in Nankana Sahib, 423 were kidnapped, and at least 32 were raped.

In Kasur, 1,239 women reported being tortured in the previous six months, with another 371 reporting kidnappings and 101 reporting rape. Gujranwala recorded 777 cases of sexual torture, 309 cases of kidnapping, and 78 cases of rape. Finally, in the previous six months, there have been 318 cases of torture against women and children in Faisalabad, 94 kidnapping cases, and 41 rape cases.

Some women's rights activists feel that crimes against women in Pakistan are underreported, while others argue that the increased attention such incidents receive on social media shows that women are more eager than ever to report such crimes to police. Several high-profile incidents have recently captivated national attention, including the murder of Noor Mukadam in Islamabad last July, exposing the country's continued brutality against women, according to media sources.
