Lucknow: A case of religious conversion has come to light in the Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. The police have arrested two accused on charges of religious conversion at Bund in the Kotwali police station area. The accused have been identified as Vijay Vishwakarma and Ramesh Verma. Copies of the Bible and literature were also recovered from the possession of the accused.

The Hindu Jagran Manch activist has informed that we were going  through the path where about 50 men and women were being gathered and brainwashed in a room, the people present there were being explained that if you adopt God, then you people have money, We immediately reported it to the police.' Hindu Jagran Manch activists said, "There have been reports of religious conversions in many places in the district in the past, which we have revealed, these people are brainwashing the gullible masses and converting them.'

Kotwali Inspector DK Srivastava said that after the complaint of the case, the police have arrested two accused, both of whom have been identified, in which one Vijay Vishwakarma is a resident of Sidhari police station area, while the other Rajesh Verma is a resident of Kotwali police station area. Police said Vijay Verma has converted to Christianity and is also a father, the two accused will be booked under sections 188, 298, 504, 506, three epidemic act and section 35 Uttar Pradesh law against the conversion of religion 1921 and legal action will be taken against them.
