Kochi, Kerala: The Kozhikode Air Intelligence Unit on Tuesday recovered a 24K gold chain weighing 233.4 grams from a female passenger who arrived here from Muscat. The Customs Commissionerate (Preventive) has said that the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) Kozhikode seized a 24K gold chain weighing 243 from a female passenger traveling by air from Muscat on July 21. At present, the investigation is going on in this case.

However, more than 30 kilograms of gold was seized in the goods transported via air cargo by the customs officials at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in Kerala earlier. The bag in which this gold was found belonged to the United Arab Emirates Embassy. In this case, the officers of the UAE have refused to hand over their diplomat and have assured to cooperate in the investigation.

In this case, the Saudi ambassador has said that UAE officials have started an investigation to find out who sent the gold to the address of the UAE consulate. Such people will not be left who not only commit crimes but try to tarnish the prestige of the mission of the UAE in the country. The UAE is ready to fully cooperate with Indian Customs officers to fully investigate this case.
