27-Year-Old Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident in Mumbai’s Malad

A tragic accident occurred in Mumbai’s Malad area when a speeding car struck and dragged a 27-year-old woman, Shahana Kazi, resulting in her death. The incident happened late at night while Kazi was returning home from a class.

The driver of the car, identified as 50-year-old Anuj Sinha, has been arrested. Following the accident, Sinha took Kazi to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival. A blood sample from Sinha was taken as part of the investigation.

Eyewitnesses reported that the car hit Kazi and dragged her for a distance, causing severe injuries. Ajay Kumar Tiwari, an eyewitness, described the scene, noting that the car came from behind, collided with Kazi, and then continued dragging her. Local resident Zaid mentioned that speeding is a common issue on that road, with cars often traveling between 80 and 140 kilometers per hour.

The police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law and are investigating further details of the incident.

Recent incidents involving luxury cars in Maharashtra have highlighted ongoing safety issues. On July 29, a 28-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident involving a speeding BMW in Mumbai’s Worli area on July 20. The man was severely injured when his two-wheeler was struck by the luxury vehicle and later died in the hospital.

Earlier, on July 9, another tragic accident occurred on Annie Besant Road in Worli. A speeding BMW, allegedly driven by the son of a recently dismissed Shiv Sena leader, collided with a two-wheeler. This accident resulted in the death of Kaveri Nakhwa and left her husband, Pradip, seriously injured. The accused, Mihir Shah, along with his family driver and father, were arrested for attempting to destroy evidence and other related charges.
