PARIS CAFÉ

Paris Cafe in Ballygunge is counted amongst the popular cafes in Kolkata. With its delectable selection of pastries, cookies, cakes, panini, salads, bread and coffee, the cafe has carved a niche for itself in a short span of time. The interiors of the cafe have been tastefully done with intricate work on the walls that are painted in white and brown. Here, you can choose from various kinds of tarts, pastries and pancakes that are served beautifully on your table. So, if you are a connoisseur of good food and want to get a taste of France in the heart of Kolkata, do visit Paris Cafe.

INDIAN COFFEE HOUSE

Heavy wooden doors, unaffected high ceilings, old paintings adorning the walls and pocket-friendly food are highlights of Indian Coffee House. The cafe is one of the oldest in the city, having been founded before the independence. The long wooden windows bear testimony to the colonial architecture, and the ambience of the coffee house is bound to remind you of the bygone era. While the food here is normal, the ambience and architecture are what make it a must visit. At this historical coffee house, do sample fish fry, the royal fish kabiraji and chicken cutlet. The place mostly attracts people for its socialist views more than it does for its food and beverages.

BREAKFAST AT FLURYS

Originally built as an old English tearoom, Flurys is one of the most iconic and stylish cafes of Kolkata. Founded in 1927, by Mr. and Mrs. J. Flurys, was known far and wide for its rich creamy pastries, puddings and cookies. Today, decades down the line, the restaurant is as popular as it used to be during the colonial era and has also expanded from a single outlet to over 13 outlets peppered across the city. The iconic Flurys' English Breakfast is a must have while you are in town. It comprises two grilled sausages, two rashes of crispy bacon, one poached egg, two slices of bread, one grilled tomato, mushroom, butter along with tea or coffee.  Another must try dish is 'on toast', consisting of a toasted and buttered bread with a generous spread of creamy mushroom, chicken or baked beans.
