3 farmers attempt self-immolation in front of Odisha Legislative Assembly

Bhubaneswar: Protests are going on against the three new agricultural laws brought by the Central government of farmers of Punjab. Three farmers in Odisha have tried to commit suicide by spraying kerosene oil on their body outside the assembly. This incident has been reported on Friday when the winter session was going on in the house. However, the security personnel immediately reached the spot and stopped the three farmers from committing self-immolation.

The media report said that the three farmers had taken this suicidal step in protest against the new law brought by the Central government and hurt by a loan case at the Cooperative Bank in Athagarh district. According to the farmers, they had complained to the local administration several times in this regard, but after being disappointed with the administration, they decided to commit self-immolation.

Earlier on Tuesday, a couple, frustrated by the lack of justice in the kidnapping and murder of a five-year-old daughter, tried to commit suicide by spraying kerosene outside the assembly. They also took this suicidal step by being angry with the attitude of the administration but the security forces stopped them from doing so.
